5 Little Chickadees
Hi Everybody.
I'm back after a bout with a bad cold that had me laid up for a week. To welcome spring I have designed this activity. Click on the title above to see the graphics and lyrics you will need. I hope you like it.
Peter and Ellen Allard (www.peterandellen.com) sing
"Five Little Chickadees" on their Sing It! Say It! Stamp It!
Sway It! Volume 2 cd. This is a great counting song (5, 4,
3, 2, 1) to share with your students in the spring or at any time of
year. I have created an interactive activity to use with the song.
Print out one set of lyrics, one
birdhouse, and one set of 5 egg shapes for each student. Show your
students pictures of chickadees and then ask them to use crayons or
markers to turn each of their 5 egg shapes into a chickadee. Have them
cut on the lines between each of the shapes to create 5 chickadee cards.
Have your students cut along the lines between each verse of the lyrics.
Staple the lyrics together as a book. Hold a 9" x 12" sheet of
construction paper the wide way. Staple the book to the top of the
paper. Fold up the bottom edge of the paper about an inch and staple
that fold on either edge to create a pocket. Place the chickadees
in a row in the pocket.
Ask your students to cut out the bird house and glue it to the
lower front of a paper lunch bag. They can then cut the bag down a
little so that it is the shape of the birdhouse.
As the song is sung the children will have the chickadees fly from the
paper to the bird house.
