Pies and Pies
Carol Hartery's Free Activity Tools Pie activities for the season 3 Pictures below in PDF frame Here are some ways to incorporate pies into the early childhood curriculum. Look through a magazine and find a picture of 3 or 4 kinds of pie. Glue those pictures onto paper plates. (See page 1 below) Ask your students to show which of the 3 pies they like the best by placing a Unifix cube on the pie. Count each of the responses to determine which pie was selected the most and least times. Need some Unifix cubes? You can purchase them from our online catalog. I have a recipe for a very special apple pie. Sometimes I substitute alligators for the apples. I have also been known to substitute pumpkins, blueberries, or cherries. See page 3 below. Your students will love chanting "Alligator Pie" with you. The lyrics for that chant are located in the frame on page 2 below You could have your students make and illustrate their own "Alligator Pie" book.. Hold 3 sheets of construction paper the tall way (portrait), fold them in half, and staple across the top. Have your students cut and glue the lyrics from the reproducible into their books. Then have them illlustrate each of the pages. Hope that you have a Happy Thanksgiving and enjoy all of your pies. By the way, what is your favorite kind of pie?
Enjoy!
