Reindeer Wreath

Carol Hartery's Free Activity Tools

This simple to make reindeer wreath can be created at home or in a classroom. If you plan to make it with your students be sure to ask each student to bring an old brown or tan sock to school. You could substitute a brown paper lunch bag for the sock and create a similar project.

Start by cutting the center out of a 9" paper plate. Glue TREND pine cone cutouts around the plate. I used 10 pine cone cutouts on my wreath. They come in a package of 72 pine cones which means one package would be enough for 7 students or I am guessing you could give each student 9 pine cones and then you'd have enough for 8 students.

Fold a 9" x 12" piece of brown construction paper in half. Have a child spread the fingers on one of his hands apart and trace that hand onto the paper. Cut through both halves of the paper so that you end up with 2 handprint "antlers." Glue or staple the antlers to the top of the paper plate.

Stuff the foot of the sock with cotton batting. Cut off most of the remaining part of the sock (save it for another project). Place the stuffed sock in the opening of the paper plate remembering to position it so that the antlers are at the top of the "head" that you have just created. Staple or glue the open part of the sock to the back of your paper plate.

Enjoy!
